Our kids will face significant challenges, many of which are beyond what we can imagine.

Our goal is to help them develop keystone skills –

  • self awareness,
  • self control,
  • physical strength with the energy and confidence that comes with it,
  • healthy competition,
  • control of the stress response – moving beyond fight or flight,
  • self confidence: meaning their sense of value comes from themselves and they are resilient in the face of peer pressure or set-backs.

These skills will allow our kids to be resilient, adaptable and creative in the face of life challenges.

Kids Marital Arts is a unique vehicle for learning all of these key skills are well as self defense.

Yes, our kids will face challenges… And, if we give them the right keys, those challenges will be their opportunities.

What to Expect From Kids Jiu Jitsu Classes

Throughout class there is a consistent, positive reinforcement of showing and expecting respect, focus and effort.  Classes are broken up into three phases:

Warm-Ups: The kids learn flips, breakfalls, and practice strength and agility movements.

Technique: We focus on a set of moves each month.  The kids learn a connected group of escapes, pins and holds.  In each class they reinforce and refine their skill and practice performing under greater and greater pressure.

Pressure and Flow:  The class ends with a series of “rolls” where they learn to find their new moves “live” by grappling with peers.  They are taught to alternate between Flow where both partners are focused on constant movement and Pressure where they practice escaping from a bad position against full resistance.

When we give our kids the right balance of challenge and support they become capable of remarkable things.
